Engine Orange

So the past week has been busy: Week 5 of school. I’ve decided to create a whole language—like what if every family had their own language & oral tradition passed down thru generations? Who am I kidding, I don’t have time for that. But it’s an interesting idea nonetheless. I’ve gotten smashed with Tayler a whole bunch, we actually got puld over while we were drunk/stoned but got off with a warning (he ran a stop sign). My memory’s pretty jumbled. I think that was Sunday night; Monday night (Tuesday morning) everybody on our floor got super drunk because Aaron in 328 turned 21. I got up at 7:30 Tuesday morning for Music Lit and as I was leaving, I saw Tayler staggering out of his dorm simultaneously, still donning his signature camo J. Deere hat, having been drinking all night. Ceej slept on the floor here Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. He’s spent most of that time playing Halo in 302 with Tayler & Kenan. He is basically homeless. The truck his parents gave him has already broken down & totald out. They won’t let him stay there now that he’s 18, and Ericka, altho a bit older than him is still living with her parents, who don’t want him there either. So he’s been crashing at the dorms & using either mine or Sean’s car as he’s looking for work. Just remember: smoked a lot of weed, practiced a lot (both for school and for August Fools: we played 4 songs at the Muse Wednesday night before being cut short “for time constraints” & I’m about to fumble my way thru another weekly lesson with Dr Filip), drove a lot.

P.S.—on a whim I typed “Osceola Rock” into YouTube and found this (& found out how to embed videos), released in 2000, decades after “Jailhouse Rock”:

I must admit, in the chorus of the Presley classic, the phrase “whole cell block” sort of sounds like the way Son Seals sings the title of his song shown above, which also implies the existence of a city named Osceola in the territory once known as Arkansas… my nephew’s picking up some strange signals.
